On Monday Lee County closed its parking lot adjacent to Times Square to begin construction of the new elevated bathrooms. The project is anticipated to be completed in early summer 2027.
The construction is to repair the park following impacts from Hurricane Ian. The improvements include upgrades to park amenities such as ADA-accessible boardwalks, picnic shelters, landscaping, lighting, signage and the construction of an elevated restroom facility to enhance accessibility and visitor experience.
During construction, portable restroom facilities and a pedestrian access walkway will remain open on the west end of the park. The park and its parking lot will be closed…
