Florida Driver Arrested for Doing 123 MPH While Intoxicated, Cops Say, Blamed It on the Supra

The A90-generation Toyota Supra is a delightful sports car, one that like many of its ilk is capable of rapid acceleration and sharp handling. What it’s not capable of is granting immunity to traffic laws, something a Florida woman recently found out the hard way. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, officers pulled over a Supra they clocked at 123 miles per hour on U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs, Florida. When they asked the driver why she was going so fast, she told them, “Honestly, it’s just cause he has a Supra, and then I thought it was all right to go fast and everything.”

Well, it should come as no surprise that the excuse didn’t fly with the police, who arrested the driver, identified by authorities as Siria Lopez, on the spot. To make matters worse, not only was Lopez speeding, she reportedly blew a 0.23 on the breathalyzer— nearly triple the legal limit. She was arrested on charges of driving over 100 mph and driving while intoxicated.

Driving at more than 100 mph in Florida is a violation of the state’s Super Speeder law. The first conviction carries a punishment of imprisonment for up to 30 days or a fine of $500, or both a fine and imprisonment. In addition to that, Lopez will need to face the DUI charge; she was also cited for careless aggressive driving, a modified exhaust, and improper turn signal usage…
