Man sentenced after bogus railway stock scheme costs 84-year-old Fort Myers investor $50K

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Boca Raton man has been sentenced to prison in Fort Myers after prosecutors said he tricked an 84-year-old victim into investing more than $50,000 in fraudulent securities tied to a railway freight car manufacturing company.

Kevin Therrell, 47, was sentenced to 75 months in prison after pleading guilty in court to organized fraud over $50,000 and seven counts of securities fraud.

He was also ordered to pay $53,500 in restitution to the victim…
