FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A local roller derby club is kicking off its last game of the season by celebrating its 20th anniversary.
Saturday afternoon, roller derby teams and fans gathered at the PSM Icehouse to commemorate the league’s history. Established in 2006, Nicki Gunn, or “Merch Maven,” hopes to see the league continue to grow.
“We’ve had really great time this year, we’ve had a lot of new people come check out the sport, which is great, because it’ll help us grow in the future,” Gunn said. “Community outpouring has been wonderful, we’ve had great donations and other community cooperation that we’ve had, which kind of helps make people aware that we are still here. We’re still rolling.”
