Scottish Rite, Riverfront projects slowly but surely making progress

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Monday’s Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission meeting ended with the unanimous approval of some of the many steps necessary to complete two of the downtown area’s most anticipated projects.

First on the agenda was the resolution of the redevelopment of the Scottish Rite Theatre in the heart of downtown Fort Wayne. After being recently purchased by Surack Enterprises, the Scottish Rite Theatre project is working toward remodeling and reopening.

Surack’s new City Theatre project likely to get TIF money

At Tuesday’s meeting, the committee unanimously approved a resolution that serves as the last step in identifying the theatre as an economic development area, allowing Tax Increment Financing or TIF funding to be used for the building’s surrounding public infrastructure.
