Fort Wayne Teen Turns Summer Hustle Into Growing Car Detailing Business

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — When Austin Handel was a freshman, he says he knew he didn’t want a typical part-time job.

“My freshman year I was working at an ice cream place, and I hated it,” Handel said. “My mom gave me the wonderful idea to start a car detailing business, and haven’t looked back since.”

Now a student at Homestead High School, Handel is the founder of Handel Car Detailing, a mobile business that brings a crew to customers’ homes to clean and restore vehicles. Handel says the company has been operating for four years and has detailed more than 750 cars — along with a few boats and even airplanes…
