Police asking for tips in death investigation south of downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Police are asking for the public’s help to piece together what led to a man’s death south of downtown Fort Wayne early Tuesday morning.

The Fort Wayne Police Department responded just before 6 a.m. to check on an unconscious man at the intersection of Harrison and Grand streets, according to an update shared later that morning. Officers tried to save his life, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A WANE 15 crew at the scene saw caution tape blocking off Harrison between Wallace and Baker streets. The side roads nearby were also closed.

The FWPD said that due to the circumstances surrounding the death, the department’s Homicide Unit, Air Support Unit and Crime Scene Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation. Officers were canvassing the area for surveillance and other video evidence as of Tuesday morning…
