Local businesses express excitement as Leesburg Rd. roundabout opens after year-long construction

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – The Leesburg Road roundabout is open to traffic after about a year of construction in the area. Local businesses say they are recovering from the impact of the project.

Paula’s on Main executive chef Brittany Shoryer said her restaurant felt the impact of the project blocking off the street.

“It’s definitely slowed down. Some of the familiar faces that we see weekly. Definitely seen a decrease in the market. You know, lots of phone calls of, are you guys open?” Shoryer said.

Shoryer said the cones lining the street and traffic in general made day-to-day work more difficult.

“You know, seeing a lot of cars turning around and, you know, getting basically to O’Sullivan’s and then realizing, oh, I can’t go any further,” Shoryer said.
