Southbound I-69 lanes at standstill in Fort Wayne as authorities respond to crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A crash on southbound I-69 in Fort Wayne has brought traffic to a complete standstill Saturday.

At around 6:30 p.m., a Public Safety Alert (PSA) was issued urging drivers to avoid the area near mile marker 306.8 while emergency crews worked to clear a scene.

A 21Alive team member on the scene saw stopped traffic, a heavy first responder presence, as well as people getting out of their cars, unable to move their vehicles.

By 8:30 p.m., authorities released a second PSA targeting drivers trapped between the Exit 309 ramp and the 306.8-mile marker, warning people to not back up or try to turn around on the interstate…
