FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A northeast Indiana organization is expanding its services in response to two crises affecting local families.
New Mercies Ministries held a groundbreaking ceremony Friday for its future facility on the Headwaters Church campus on Wells Street. Building 3, once known as Bowker Hall, is being renovated to reach families going through personal crises, and during a time when affordable housing is lacking.
Crews at Friday’s ceremony tore down a wall, the first step in renovations for the facility, which spans more than 12,000 square feet. Once the first phase of the project is complete, the building will be ready to welcome seven families with a 24-bed capacity.
