FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Freezing rain led to slick conditions Tuesday morning, mainly on side and secondary roads more than main thoroughfares.
Sgt. Brian Walker from the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post told WANE 15 that ISP saw minimal incidents despite the slick and hazardous side roads.
Walker said the traffic he encountered was all moving slowly, even if it was on main roads that just appeared wet rather than icy. He said that was a good thing to see.
“The first thing I noticed was cars coming at me, they just weren’t getting to me. I’m like ‘well that’s a really good sign,’ but it was so slick in some areas that sometimes that’s all you can do just trying to keep your car on the road and you have no choice but to go slow. But it was good to see that people were using caution, using good judgment, and that’s what keeps your car out of the ditch and keeps accidents from happening,” Walker said.

According to Walker, ISP Fort Wayne troopers only responded to two slide-offs, one property damage accident, and zero personal injury crashes between midnight and Tuesday afternoon.
