FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A juvenile died following a shooting in Fort Wayne Saturday night, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department..
The incident happened in the 2900 Block of Shawnee Drive shortly before 8:00 p.m.
Officer Adam Hartman said responding officers found a child suffering from a gunshot wound in critical condition when they arrived. They provided aid until paramedics arrive.
He did not specify gender or age of the victim, just that they were a “young juvenile.”
The child was pronounced dead after being taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Officer Hartman said there is no one currently in custody following the shooting, but there isn’t a public safety threat or any external criminal activity related to the shooting that police are aware of.
