FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A Fort Wayne man who admitted Tuesday he neglected a child and caused her to suffer a brain bleed as well as other injuries almost two years ago will now face no more than seven years behind bars, according to Allen Superior Court documents.
Elijah J. Seslar, 27, pleaded guilty to one Level 3 felony count of neglect of a dependent as part of a deal with Allen County prosecutors that will cap the executed portion of whatever sentence he receives at seven years, court documents said.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors will drop a Level 3 felony count of domestic battery levied against Seslar at his sentencing March 8. That’s when an Allen Superior Court judge will either accept or reject the plea agreement.
The charges against Seslar stem from February 2022.
According to court documents, the child’s mother told investigators she left the child alone with Seslar on Feb. 21 of that year. At the time, the child – a girl whose age was not given in court documents – was fine.
