One-time retention pay could be coming to Columbia City Employees’

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia City Council Members will meet Monday night to review several agenda items, including one that would give all City employees a one-time retention pay bonus if approved.

The proposed amendment to the city’s 2024 fiscal year budget would provide a one-time retention pay bonus to all permanent employees.

The $2.5 million amendment would provide either a $1,500, $1,000, or $500 retention payment.

Permanent employees are eligible for up to three retention payments with a maximum of $1,500. The pay would be based on the employees’ date of hire. The criteria would be as followed:

  • $500 retention payment for employees actively and continuously employed in a
    permanent position on or before 10/1/23 through February 4, 2024. Reflected on
    2/23/24 paycheck.
  • $500 retention payment for employees actively and continuously employed in a
    permanent position on or before 11/12/23 through March 17, 2024. Reflected on
    4/5/24 paycheck.
  • $500 retention payment for employees actively and continuously employed in a
    permanent position on or before 12/24/23 through April 28, 2024. Reflected on 5/17/24
    paycheck.
