Busy weekend for local pizzerias

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Many restaurants around the Summit City are preparing for massive amounts of carry-out orders and dine-ins for the big game Sunday. Especially pizzerias, WANE 15 caught up with a few local pizza spots to see how much preparations go into busy weekends.

Acme by Full Circle and Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders are aware of the rise in sales they will experience this weekend. Friday, was also National Pizza Day.

Acme is located on E. State Blvd, their pizzas are hand-tossed. The dough is made fresh daily, making 50 to 60 different size pizzas a day. Owner of Acme says its a lot of work but customers can taste the difference between fresh and frozen dough.

Acme is expecting a full restaurant Sunday, reservations are already booking up.

“Probably going to double from what we usually do, it seems like it’s already trending that way today [Friday] with the carry out,” said Owner of Acme by Full Circle, Tim Longarder.

For Mancino’s, busy weekends call for early mornings, making dough. Owner, Tabitha Gray was preparing dough at 5:30 Friday morning. Gray says she had to plan weeks in advance to make sure she had more of everything, especially cheese. With Friday also being National pizza day, she expects her evening to be busy as well. If you plan to order a pizza from Mancino’s Sunday, get your order in sooner rather than later.
