FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — WANE 15’s origins trace back to 1954 when this channel originally launched as WINT in Waterloo.
New owners took over in 1958 and rebranded to WANE. They also moved the station to West State Boulevard and into the building WANE 15 still operates out of today.
The actual launch date was September 26, 1954. Meaning, WANE 15 will turn 70 this year.
Leading up to that, WANE 15 launched a new series called Platinum Perspective where we will look back on this station’s rich history, its service to the community, and the legacy it holds.
That includes a look back at certain milestones for WANE 15 and the programming the station has brought to the area: local newscasts, local programs like The Ann Colone Show and Living Local 15, and all of the national news, sports, and entertainment programs provided through WANE’s affiliation with CBS.
“It’s just an incredible testament of what this place has served in our community to bring that to our viewers who we just incredibly have such a focus on serving and entertaining,” WANE 15 Vice President and General Manager Tom Antisdel said.
