Man accused of killing grandmother back in Indiana

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – A Huntington County man accused of stabbing his 72-year-old grandmother to death is back in Indiana after being extradited from Georgia , where U.S. Marshals captured him the day after Christmas.

Huntington County prosecutors charged 37-year-old Anthony Castleman with one count of murder after the discovery of his grandmother’s body in her Markle home this past November.

Family members of Bernice Eubanks called police after they had not heard from her and became concerned about their inability to contact her. Huntington County Sheriff’s deputies found Eubanks dead inside the home when they went to check on her.

The Huntington County Coroner later determined Eubanks had been stabbed and ruled her death a homicide.

From the start, Castleman was named as the primary suspect and police enlisted the public’s help in locating him. The sheriff’s department even plastered his photo on billboards across the state with award money offered in attempts to gather leads on his whereabouts.
