LIGONIER, Ind. (WANE) – You come at the king, you best not miss.

That cliche rang true for Garrett on Friday night, who derailed West Noble in a 17-6 win to take control of the NECC big school division. The win also keeps the Railroaders undefeated at 6-0 two-thirds through the regular season.

West Noble charged ahead with an early interception in the first quarter. Trevor Steele tipped a jump ball to himself for the pick. Nefty Silva converted a field goal on the ensuing drive to give West Noble a 3-0 lead after one quarter.

The Chargers continued matriculating the football downfield in the second quarter, resulting in another Sifta field goal. However, Garrett’s Alex Guzman returned the ensuing kickoff 94 yards for Garrett’s first touchdown of the night, giving the Railroaders a 7-6 lead at halftime.

Garrett took control after halftime, Calder Hefty plunged in for a touchdown to cap off a lengthy drive for the Railroaders. West Noble’s offense was also stymied by Garrett’s defense, being shut out in the second half.
