FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Regional artists gather at Artlink on Thursday to commemorate the opening of three new exhibits.
New this year is a home-themed showcase, ‘DWELLINGS’ which depicts different nests, shelters, and burrows humans and creatures have crafted. The collection was juried by, an Assistant Professor Studio Art at the University of Saint Francis.
The 2025 Midwest Regional exhibitions will display 65 artworks ranging in media. The pieces were all crafted by Midwest artists, 27 from Indiana and nine from Fort Wayne.
Exhibition Coordinator Ellen Mensch said Midwest culture and landscapes are represented in many unique ways; from direct pieces like landscapes to abstract art with Midwest soil.
She credits the exhibit’s juror, Whitney Sage, with this range of regional pride.
“In the art world, everybody thinks about New York or L.A. and Chicago,” Mensch said. “But you can see in this exhibition there is a lot of amazing contemporary artwork being made in the Midwest.”
The annual Postcard Exhibition and Sale features several mini masterpieces that visitors can purchase for five dollars each. Small paintings, collages and drawings were all donated to Artlink.
