Over $1.3 Million in Road Funding to Bolster Infrastructure Across 245 Indiana Communities

Over $1.3 million in new road funding is heading to local communities in Indiana, aimed at enhancing the state’s infrastructure through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program. In a recent announcement by State Reps. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper), the grants are designated for road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and numerous improvement projects across 245 Indiana communities, as part of a larger distribution exceeding $200 million.

According to a statement from Indiana House Republicans, the importance of this investment cannot be overstated when he claims, “Strong infrastructure is the foundation of strong communities.” He continues, “These grants will help improve the roads Hoosiers rely on daily, making travel safer and supporting local businesses and residents.” Following these initiatives, Indiana has risen to the top in Consumer Affairs’ ranking for overall road conditions nationwide, with special attention to their impressive low rate traffic fatalities and superior road quality.

Local grant recipients, such as Daviess County with a substantial $1.1 million and Washington garnering $260,753, can anticipate improvements in their travel networks due to these funds. As for eligibility, Lindauer edge lights a two-tier matching scheme—smaller municipalities must contribute a 25 percent match, whereas larger communities are obliged to provide a double commitment at 50 percent.
