‘There’s a ripple effect’: Proposed Indiana license plate could raise money and awareness for pollinators

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A license plate with origins in DeKalb County could be seen on Indiana cars as soon as 2026. The pollinator license plate is an effort to support Indiana’s local pollinators and environment.

Pollinators can be many things including butterflies and bees. They move pollen around from plants and keep the agricultural economies growing.

“You think about there’s a ripple effect,” the woman behind the plate Lisa Conrad said. “So if we don’t have the pollinators then we won’t have the flowers, if we don’t have the flowers then that ripples down to the animals that eat the corn and the people that eat the animals and so there is a huge ripple effect so we need to be taking care of our pollinators so that we can keep that healthy environment.”…
