Gov. Braun signs first bill into law

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indiana farmers will soon have an online portal for all of their regulatory questions under a bill Gov. Mike Braun signed Tuesday.

The bill is the first to receive the governor’s signature and is a legislative priority for his administration. It requires the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to set up an online portal for farmers to use.

Among other things, the portal would have to include a searchable database of grants, regulatory checklists, technical support and a way for farmers to submit comments on current or proposed regulations. It also requires a report and survey on lost farmland every five years beginning in 2029…
