First Alert Forecast: Severe storms possible Sunday evening. Calmer, cool start to week.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Sunday is a First Alert Weather Day because of the possibility of severe thunderstorms across NE Indiana and NW Ohio. Our primary concern are wind gusts inside severe storms topping 70mph. Also, the risk for hail and tornadoes are possible.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for all of Northern Indiana, NOT including Ohio at this time, until 8pm Sunday evening. This means the ingredients are there for tornadoes to happen, but it’s not absolutely certain they will.

The line of storms are expected to arrive between 4-5pm in the western part of the viewing area. A start time of 5-6pm in Allen County, and closer to 5:30-6pm for Ohio. These storms are expected to wrap up by around 9pm in the eastern part of the area.

Cooler, calmer weather starts the week. Monday and Tuesday will be dry, but afternoon high temperatures will only be in the mid 40s both days. Monday will be windier than Tuesday, so it will feel like the upper 20s in the morning and the mid 30s in the afternoon on Monday…
