Well, here we go again – another report that doesn’t exactly shower Indiana with praise. This time, it’s all about the healthiest and unhealthiest cities in America. Any guesses on how the Hoosier state fared? Here’s a hint: we didn’t exactly land in the top half.
The rankings come from WalletHub.com, which analyzed 182 of the country’s largest cities based on four key factors: Health Care, Food, Fitness, and Green Space. Each of these areas was broken down into multiple metrics to paint a full picture of how healthy – or not – each city really is.
Which Indiana Cities Are the Unhealthiest?
There are two Indiana cities on this list, and unfortunately, they are closer to the bottom than the top. Take a look at the some of the info below. Keep in mind, the rankings are from the healthiest city (#1) to the unhealthiest (#182).
The state capital, Indianapolis, was ranked at #120, which by the way is the same ranking it received in 2024. That was determined by Naptown’s rankings in the individual categories.

- Food Rank – 95th
- Fitness Rank – 94th
- Green Space Rank – 156th
If you look a little further down the list, you will find Fort Wayne, which was ranked #164. That, unfortunately, is four spots worse than its ranking in 2024. Here are some other Fort Wayne results.

- Food Rank – 133rd
- Fitness Rank – 124th
- Green Space Rank – 176th
