Former Dollar General Employee in Fort Wayne Charged with Felony Theft in Alleged $8,000 Embezzlement Scheme

A former employee of Dollar General in Fort Wayne has been taken into custody following allegations of substantial theft from the retailer. Nian Young, 21, was arrested and charged with a Level 6 felony theft after it was uncovered that he had reportedly spirited away $8,000 from the store’s coffers over a three-week period.

The Fort Wayne Police Department was called to the scene at 1850 Bluffton Road last Thursday afternoon after the Regional Asset Protection Manager brought the internal theft to light. In a revelation that speaks to the digital age’s new avenues for crime, Young is accused of having to gradually transfer the money directly to his personal CashApp account from the store’s register.
