‘COPS’ episode featuring Fort Wayne Police Department to air Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) will be showcased to the rest of the world Friday evening when the department makes its debut on the latest episode of the long-running reality TV show “COPS.”

The episode will air at 6 p.m. only on Fox Nation and aims to focus on the FWPD’s Air Support Unit.

The two Fort Wayne officers featured in the episode included Officer Michael Hickman and Officer Troy Waidelich. Although both work within the Air Support Unit, Hickman is a certified remote pilot who listens to 911 calls and deploys drones as a first responder, and Waidelich works as a patrol officer who coordinates with the rest on the unit from the scene. Hickman told WANE 15 that “COPS” aimed to showcase how the two aspects of the Air Support Unit work together.
