FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – In Northeast Indiana and Northwest Ohio, most avid gardeners know to wait until after Mother’s Day to put flowers in the ground.
Over the past few weeks, the 21Alive First Alert Weather Team has been tracking warmer than average temperatures on the whole, but also warning about the possibility of a couple chilly mornings up until Mother’s Day, which falls on May 11, 2025.
If you’re like the author of this article, your flowers are already in the ground because widespread, prolonged frost was not a concern, and it’s still not. However, overnight Thursday into Friday morning, temperatures are expected to fall into the upper-to-mid 30s, at their coldest, after a cold front passes through. This means isolated, patchy frost is possible.
