Indiana Severe Weather Alert: Storms with Hail and Damaging Winds Possible Thursday Afternoon, May 15

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Strong storms could roll into northern Indiana by Thursday afternoon, bringing the risk of hail, damaging winds, and even isolated tornadoes as heat and humidity spike across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, much of northern and central Indiana—along with southwest Lower Michigan—has been placed under a Severe Weather Outlook for Thursday, May 15. Storm development is expected to intensify from late afternoon into the evening, fueled by rising temperatures near 90 degrees and high humidity.

The greatest threat includes areas around Fort Wayne, South Bend, Lafayette, and the Michiana region. The SPC highlights potential for all severe hazards, including large hail and gusts over 60 mph.
