FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program helps fund road and bridge repairs across Indiana.
The funds can be used for bridge and road preservation projects alongside chip sealing and crack filling. The idea was to help take the cost burden off of the necessary but arduous task of road repair, but Fort Wayne and other large cities weren’t feeling the full effect.
Community Crossings is a very popular program overall in the state,” said Jehl “But for Allen County, for Fort Wayne residents, for every dollar a Fort Wayne resident pays into that fund (which is a couple hundred million dollars cumulatively in Indiana), only 15 cents comes back to Fort Wayne taxpayers into our roads.”…
