FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The teenage suspect in Thursday’s homicide on Rudisill Boulevard is being charged as an adult, and according to Allen Superior Court documents filed Tuesday, an attempted robbery allegedly preceded the shooting.

The suspect was identified in court documents as 17-year-old Kaedan Mowery.

Surveillance footage and witness accounts led investigators to charge Mowery with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Damontre Burnett. The shooting happened Thursday afternoon near the intersection of Rudisill Boulevard and Tacoma Avenue. Burnett was found in a nearby church parking lot where he was pronounced dead.

Court documents detail witness accounts claiming Burnett and Mowery knew each other from high school and they were in a car together when an altercation occurred just before the shooting…
