Humane Fort Wayne now offers 24-hour, free microchip services for lost pets

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Local animal shelter Humane Fort Wayne now provides a free, 24-hour microchip scanning station and is celebrating with a free microchip clinic.

The self-serve scanner is available all day, every day, at no cost to pet owners searching for their lost animals, eliminating worries about the veterinarian’s or shelter office hours.

“The fastest and easiest way for a lost pet to get home is through a microchip, not a shelter,” said Jessica Henry-Johnson, Executive Director of Humane Fort Wayne. “This scanning station gives the public a tool to be part of the solution and help reunite pets without them ever entering the shelter system.”…
