Convicted Fort Wayne drug dealer sentenced to more than 16 years

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A Fort Wayne man was sentenced to more than 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony drug charges and possession of firearms following his arrest two years ago.

In September of 2023, Derek L. Taylor was arrested by the Fort Wayne Police Department for dealing narcotic drugs from his home and restaurant, and possessing more than 3 pounds of fentanyl, a record amount recovered by FWPD.

After Taylor distributed cocaine to an undercover officer, FWPD obtained a search warrant and later recovered heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and M30 pills containing fentanyl. Police also found three handguns, a stolen semi-automatic rifle, several digital scales, baggies, and a large amount of powder used in the distribution of the drugs…
