FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – More than 400 degree programs at Indiana’s public colleges and universities will be eliminated or merged with other programs.
Around 20% of the state’s degree programs will be eliminated or merged. Why? Not enough students are graduating from them according to new thresholds set by the Indiana State Legislature. Additions to the state budget bill were added the last night of the session without public comment.
The new requirements state an average number of students must graduate from a given program in a three-year time period. An associate degree program would require 10 students, a bachelor’s degree program would require 15 students, and a master’s degree program would require seven students…
