A 380% increase: CTN rider speaks out against ‘devastating’ fare hikes

ALLEN CO., Ind. (WANE)— Community Transportation Network (CTN) announced rate hikes beginning Aug. 1 and one rider told WANE 15 the provider needs to find a better way.

Private pay CTN ride fares are tiered based on the rider’s income. Riders in the lowest tier will see a base fare increase from $5 to $8 for rides under five miles. Each additional mile is another dollar with their new mileage surcharge, also going into effect on Aug. 1. 60% of rides provided by CTN are more than five miles. 11% are more than 10 miles.
