FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Zoo added more than new animals this summer. There are also several new attractions for both kids and adults.
WANE 15’s Alyssa Ivanson took her daughter, Chloe, along to try them out in this Wild on WANE. Watch the video above to see how she did.

Milking Cow
In the Indiana farm, a new cow statue will teach kids how to milk a cow.
“The udders work just like a normal cow would. It’s something new for our guests to experience. We like to provide some interactive activities for guests and try to revamp some areas at the zoo every year,” AJ Harper, the zoo’s Vice President of Operations, said.
The cow in the zoo’s farm area “milks” water into a bucket, and the water is then pumped back into the cow so the attraction doesn’t use a lot of water or need a constant stream.
The milking cow is free for anyone to try.
Nature Play Area/Rock Wall
The Nature Play area in the African Journey also expanded this year.
“Nature play was very popular last year with just a of couple elements that we utilized from existing structures that we had. So, we expanded it this year to include the dig pit that was really popular for our Dino Days and Halloween in the past. And then we added the rock wall as well to let people get up in the trees and experience nature if you’re not ready to go on Bamboo Forest, for instance,” Harper said.
The rock wall is $4 to climb and is part of the zoo’s ride pass and ride wristband options.
Paddle Boats
The new swan-shaped paddle boats in the Central Zoo pond can give guests either a little workout or a leisurely ride.
“They have a capacity of four people and you can can get out and go around the pond that was previously unused,” Harper said…
