Fort Wayne boy recovering after severely injuring hand while playing with fireworks

INDIANAPOLIS (WPTA) – A Fort Wayne boy is recovering after suffering a severe hand injury while playing with fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Riley Children’s Health says 11-year-old Jason Swopshire is being treated at the facility’s burn unit after a fireworks-related injury during Independence Day celebrations.

The Indianapolis children’s hospital says the boy has had surgery to help repair his hand, but will need additional procedures and therapy to regain normal function…
