First Alert Days: Heat index 100°+ to start week, but cooler days ahead

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Today and tomorrow are First Alert Weather Days due to the heat index reaching over 100, but a big pattern flip arrives later in the week to dip us back in the 70s!

An isolated patch of fog, and even an isolated sprinkle is possible early Monday morning. Isolated showers are possible throughout the day due to the heat and humidity, but I don’t expect those to be very generous with rainfall. Showers will be hit-or-miss today, but the better chance for rain will come late Wednesday and into Thursday.

I am seeing some signs of widespread fog developing into tomorrow morning that would look to slow down the early morning drive. We’ll be keeping an eye on this going into tomorrow, but it’s a sign of the high humidity for Tuesday. In fact, Tuesday’s heat index will be even higher than today. We could see a heat index reach 105°+ for Tuesday across the area…
