First Alert Forecast: Rain likely late Wednesday, much cooler and drier end of the week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – It was technically hotter today than yesterday with highs in the low 90s for most, but fortunately dew points were lower, “only” making it into the mid 70s. This resulted in heat index temperatures to hit the triple digits, but not zoom past them like Monday!

Tonight will be about as muggy as last night, however, with lows near 70º and a bit of patchy fog.

Much of the day Wednesday actually looks dry and humid with highs in the mid to upper 80s and heat index values in the mid to upper 80s. The start of a pretty big change to the weather pattern begins Wednesday evening/night as a cold front advances into the area. This will bring an increasing chance of rain and thunderstorms from west to east that will likely last through Thursday morning. While the late/overnight storms could be loud, the severe risk is low. Rainfall amounts will be highly variable once again, though, with some receiving half an inch or less of rain, while others could see 1-2″+…
