Fort Wayne UNITED leaders say program’s pause deepened city’s violence crisis

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – This summer, Fort Wayne has seen a string of violent incidents involving young people, from a shooting after Fourth of July fireworks to another at a city park.

For leaders of Fort Wayne UNITED, the city’s longtime anti-violence initiative, the surge is a painful reminder of what they believe was lost when the city stepped away from overseeing their programs last fall.
