Big bugs invade Fort Wayne Zoo

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Big bugs are back at Fort Wayne Zoo. New this year is a bug day camp to go with the Big Bugabaloo.

This is the second year for the Big Bugabaloo, which brings bugs to life on a whole new level. There are eleven giant animatronic insects around the zoo. Last year some bugs were in Africa, but this year they are all in Central Zoo and Australia.

“The names of the bugs might not be what you’re used to, but it’s nice to see those names along with their facts too,” Jessica Fulk, the zoo’s Guest Experience Manager, said.

All the bugs move except the caterpillar, or Spicebush Swallowtail to be precise, which kids can climb on for a fun picture.

There’s also a scavenger hunt for fun facts. It’s $3 to get a paper and then go around to the different bugs to fill out the eleven questions for a prize and a chance to win a bug encounter…
