Former Mason official sentenced to 15 months in Indiana prison

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Former Mason Planning Commission Chair Seth Waxman was sentenced Wednesday to almost 16 months in prison by an Indiana judge on two charges stemming from an arrest livestreamed by a “predator catcher” group.

Waxman was initially taken into custody in May 2024, where the group Predator Catchers Inc. Indianapolis livestreamed his arrest at a Walmart in Bluffton, IN. In the video, members of the group are seen confronting Waxman before he is detained by a local deputy and officers from the Bluffton Police Department. The group are also seen telling police they have records of online chats with Waxman and handed the officers a red folder.

He submitted his resignation to Mason Mayor Russell Whipple the same day as his arrest, effective immediately. He posted a $5,000 bond in January 2025…
