3 Indiana Horses Test Positive for WNV

The Indiana State Board of Animal Health recently confirmed that three horses have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

In Allen County, an unvaccinated, 3-year-old Standardbred mare tested positive on Aug. 18 after developing clinical signs on Aug. 15, including severe ataxia, fever, and recumbency. She was euthanized.

In Adams County, an unvaccinated, 8-year-old pony mare tested positive for WNV on Aug. 21 after developing neurologic signs on Aug. 14. She became recumbent and was euthanized…
