BLUFFTON, Ind. (WANE) — Hundreds of thousands of chickens may be headed for a new proposed facility in Wells County.
Fisher McAfee Farm LLC, based in Liberty Center, is petitioning the Wells County Area Planning Commission to approve a confined feeding operation, or CFO. It would be near the intersection of Country Roads 400 West and 300 North, northwest of downtown Bluffton.
According to the confined feeding operation, or CFO, permit application sent to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, the operation would include 2 barns that can hold 202,752 layer hens, each having egg and manure storage.
