Illinois man drives off I-69, crashes into fence, ditches

DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — An Illinois man was pinned in his vehicle in a crash after taking what he thought was an exit off of I-69.

In the early hours of Friday morning, a man was driving northbound on I-69 in Auburn, Indiana, when he attempted to take an exit near the 333-mile marker. But there was no exit, and he drove off the roadway.

The car crashed into a ditch and then continued to drive through around 20-30 yards of barbed wire fence. From there, the driver continued into a field, driving north parallel to I-69. He then approached another ditch that was 10 feet deep. By the time he reached it, he had traveled around 1215 feet from where he initially left I-69…
