Sensitive personal information for 29K+ patients exposed during data breach at Fort Wayne clinic

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Multiple class action lawsuits have been filed after a data breach at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program (FWMEP) led to sensitive personal information for thousands of patients being stolen.

FWMEP provides clinical training as part of a residency program for medical students and operates an office inside the Lutheran Downtown Medical Office Building.

A spokesperson for the organization sent a letter on Oct. 3, stating that an “unauthorized actor” stole data from their network sometime between Dec. 12 and Dec. 17, 2024. They say they discovered the incident on Dec. 17 and immediately secured their systems and retained cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident…
