FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A neighborhood on Fort Wayne’s south side is now more accessible with the completion of a road project.
Residents in the Mount Vernon Park neighborhood can now travel smoothly over Fairfax Avenue between Hanna Street and Gaywood Drive.
The road stretches less than a mile but sits in front of houses, Fort Wayne Community Schools’ Levan Scott Academy, and churches such as Bridge of Grace Ministries. The latter two organizations have both invested in the area by recently bringing an early learning center, community health clinic and an expansion of the academy. Just down the block, the community also has access to the renovated Brewer Park.
Adding to those recent improvements in the area, the reconstructed Fairfax Avenue includes new sidewalks, street lighting, curbs and ADA ramps. The project also replaced the chip and seal street with asphalt, added new drive approaches, and more storm inlets…
