Homestead cross country sweeps team titles at IHSAA sectional meet

HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead boys and girls cross country dominated to bring home team titles during Saturday’s IHSAA sectional meet at Huntington University.

In the boys race, Jace Trevino and Cooper Knoblauch finished first and second to pace the Spartans to a team championship. Trevino finished first overall with a time of 15:56.6, while Knoblauch finished less than a second behind at 15:57.2. The Spartans rolled to a team title with their top five placers earning a score of 26. Concordia finished as runner up with a score of 69.

In the girls race, Daphne Weller dominated while her older sister, Mallory, sat out Saturday’s race due to rest. Weller finished with the top time of 18:28.0. However, Homestead clipped Concordia in the team score. The Spartans won the team title with a score of 31, two points better than the Cadets.
