Dispose of unused meds safely at Fort Wayne event on Oct. 25

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Indiana residents can dispose of unwanted, expired, or unused prescription drugs on Saturday, October 25, 2025. The Indiana State Police is working with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the “Prescription Drug Take Back” initiative to prevent drug abuse and theft.

Collection sites will be set up nationwide, including at the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Post is at 5811 Ellison Road, Fort Wayne, next to Rural King on Jefferson Road. Participants should place items in boxes inside the front doors of the new two-story building.

This initiative addresses public safety and health concerns, as expired medicines left in homes are prone to misuse. Studies show many abused prescription drugs come from family and friends’ medicine cabinets…
