Man charged with attempted murder for 2024 SWAT standoff

WABASH COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A Fort Wayne man was charged with attempted murder, among other charges, in connection with a SWAT standoff last year in North Manchester that led to police shooting the suspect.

38-year-old Jacob S. Slocum was charged on Wednesday after the December 2024 SWAT standoff left him with serious injuries.

His charges are as follows:

  • Three counts of attempted murder, a Level 1 Felony
  • Unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a Level 4 Felony
  • Criminal Recklessness/Shooting a firearm into a building, a Level 5 Felony
  • Pointing a firearm at another, a Level 5 Felony
  • Two counts of using a firearm in the commission of an offense; sentence enhancements if found guilty
