FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — As Hurricane Melissa tore across Jamaica this week, communities across the island are beginning the long process of recovering from heavy wind damage, flooding, and widespread power outages.
The storm hit hardest in parishes along the south and west coasts, including Westmoreland — where videos circulating online show homes damaged and neighborhoods overwhelmed by debris.
For Jamaicans in northeast Indiana, the devastation hits close to home.
